Relaxing at Capella Sentosa

This article is part 5 of 6 in the series Pet-Friendly Singapore Staycation

Thursday. Thor Day. Day 4 of my staycation at Capella.

The skies were overcast though my mood was bright. The girls and I headed to the beach again. Empty again. And again, it felt so freeing to be on the expanse of sand with the girls running and exploring. It was so quiet. Everything on my mind just floated away. It was only me, the girls, the water, the sand, and the fresh air. The beach had beautiful patterns, little rivets made by the water moving in and out again. Just one day later, the beach was a different place.

I think the construction noise from the apartment building next door at home is getting to me. Being Canadian, I’m just not used to the constancy of noise that exists here in Singapore, today’s Singapore anyway. Because of the construction, the noise level is worse – drilling before 8AM, the annoying beep beep of trucks backing up as late as 10PM. It’s a long day. It’s a long day of work for the workers.

This staycation at Capella on Sentosa was exactly what I needed.  A break from hammering sounds. A break from everyday routine. A brief time out from it all.

Walking the girls is also so easy here, and having the beach right there. Capella is a beautifully landscaped property, with plenty of space and walking routes to explore. Lou and Abby both love going into the water and enjoyed their free roaming at the empty beach. Soon after I adopted Lou, we went to a cove and she bravely followed me over the rocks into the choppy water. No hesitation at all. Since then, I always look for swimming opportunities for her.

The grey skies opened up after breakfast and the winds picked up. I love rainy days. They are lazy days. Movie days. Reading days. The girls slept soundly as I read and watched TV and had room service. More churros. We also napped together.

I started the day with a 6PM checkout in mind. I had the whole day to relax with my dogs. It sounded like pleasure to me, to enjoy this beautiful villa, just the three of us, listening to the rain outside.

Then last minute, plans changed. I was staying one more night. Lou and Abby were picked up for a sleepover and I had one more day and one more night to enjoy my own company, a rare occurrence these days.
