Fireworks at Marina Bay

New Year celebrations are big in Singapore. The first year I was in Singapore, I saw the fireworks downtown. It was massively crowded and I vowed never to do that again. Until my friend invited me to send off 2015 and welcome 2016 with her daughter at Marina Bay.

There are several spots around Marina Bay and nearby, such as rooftop bars and restaurants, to watch the fireworks. Merlion Park, Helix Bridge, Sheares Bridge, and the Esplanade are some great choices, if you go early to grab and keep your spot.

She picked me up early evening and we headed to the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, a shopping centre and an area familiar to me as I stayed for six months at The Sail nearby. I used to walk Lou and Abby down the promenade and in the CBD.

We grabbed a bite to eat before looking for a spot to watch the fireworks.

The fireworks were spectacular.
