Delicious Japanese Dinner at Furusato, Waikiki

Furusato is our favourite restaurant in Honolulu. On our first visit to O’ahu in March, we discovered this Japanese restaurant. Across the beach where the Duke Kahanamoku Statue is located, Furusato is unsurprisingly packed. A very busy part of Waikiki, there are always crowds and the restaurant gets a lot of walk-in diners.

Furusato does not take reservations, so be sure to get there early, unless you enjoy late dinners. We’ve only waited once, and that was for four of us. Even then, it was a short wait. Well worth the wait. The hostess takes your phone number and texts you when your table is ready. With so much happening nearby, there’s lots to keep you occupied in the meantime.

It is a short walk for us from our place and we love being so close to the beach and ocean. Ah, the smell of the ocean on a warm breeze. The food is so delicious that we brave the crowds of Waikiki.

We’ve tried a variety of items from the Furusato menu. Our favourites are hamachi (yellowtail) and hotate (scallop). We’ve also tried the Dragon Roll, Tempura Roll, and others sushi rolls. Sometimes I add a mini udon.
